Patricia Lutu joined the Department of Computer
Science on 1 July, 2010. She obtained the BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree from the
University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 1979, the MSc Computer Science degree from the
University of Manchester, in 1981 and the PhD Computer Science degree from the University of Pretoria in 2010. Since 1981, she has lectured in Computer
Science at the University of Ife in Ile-Ife,
Nigeria, National University of Lesotho in Roma,
Lesotho,
University of Transkei in Umtata,
and the former Vista University in
Pretoria. She lectured in Informatics at
the University of Pretoria from February 2002 to 30 June 2010.
Since 2010, she has presented lectures in the following areas:
- Undergraduate courses: programming in C and C++, Database Systems, and Software Engineering.
- Honours courses: data mining, software engineering.
- Masters in IT: ICT infrastructure management, Corporate IT, Lifecycle and maturity models for IT.
Patricia Lutu is the
member of the Computational Intelligence Research Group (CIRG) in the
Department of Computer Science. Her research interests include: data
mining, machine learning, application of Artificial Intelligence techniques
to data mining, business intelligence and
decision support systems.
