COVID-19: Computer science research group sets up databank to empower experts and citizens with accurate info

Dr Vukosi Marivate, Data Science Chair and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, has recently been appointed to serve as a member of the premier's COVID-19 advisory committee. Congratulations on this appointment, Dr Marivate, you make our department proud!
The Data Science for Social Impact (DSSI) research group at the Department of Computer Science, led by Dr Vukosi Marivate, aims to use data science as a way to find solutions to social problems and to get end-users and decision-makers to better understand how to use and understand data science and its limitations. For the current health crisis, it has set up a repository and dashboard that pulls information from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) and the Department of Health (DoH).
